Over the past few months this quote has started to make sense to me. I grew up in the midwest, it was either hot and humid, raining, freezing, or snowing, we didn’t have that great of weather. I know you might think, what does this has to do with this quote fashion. To me this means something, I was always dressing for the weather, not my style or my creativity. I lived in my Uggs, sweats, or shorts and a tank through out the year. I also wore a uniform in High School and worked at bar where I had a uniform. I didn’t get to experience a lot of creativity and exploring my personal style.
I have been in LA over 8 years and this year I have finally grasped what personal style and creativity means to me. My first five years I worked at a hospital, I could wear scrubs and the hospital front zip sweatshirt daily. This was another excuse for me not to be creativity with my personal style. Now I have a creative job in Entertainment Marketing and I am working on my blog. Everything has completely changed for me, but for the good. This is something I have wanted to do for years but never had the push to do so.
Long story short, this year I have decided to study fashion and find what it means to me. I want to stay true to who I am but find a way to express myself through my style. As the quote mentions, style is saying who you are. People take their vision and ideas and piece it together, no two people are a like.
The thing I love the most about fashion is that I am not able to express who I am with what I wear. I am working on stepping out of my comfort zone and getting creative on the outside and not only behind a computer. I know it will take time but I will find who I am and be able to be confident with my choices.
